Plant Engineer and Safety Director for ITT’s Advanced Technology Center in Shelton, Connecticut. Developed programs for the research & development and semiconductor facilities and the first hazardous waste program. The first Corporate Safety Director for Ogden Services, developed their Corporate EHS Policies and Procedures manual. Site Safety Engineer on a $1.5 billion NYCDEP Ultra-violet disinfection facility construction project. Utilized my engineering and diving background to develop solutions to various safety issues. I work with a number of large fuel terminals dealing with security, OSHA and US Coast Guard regulations.
I have worked in the hazardous materials discipline for over forty (40) years, accruing numerous certifications from NFPA, FEMA, NREP, IHMM, OSHA, ASSP and CISM. In 1993 (World Trade Center Bombing) I developed safety protocols for emergency clean-up personnel.
I have taught forensics classes (Explosions – Forensics and Evidence) in the “Basic Criminal Investigation” program at the Henry C. Lee Forensics Institute at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. In addition, I taught a graduate course in OSHA Law, Environmental Law and US DOT Hazardous Materials. I served on the NFPA Technical Committee on Hazardous Materials Response Personnel for several years. The committee was responsible for updating NFPA 471 & 472 and the Hazardous Materials: Handbook for Emergency Responders.
Over the past 35 years I have been called upon by various attorneys and insurance companies as an expert witness, (investigations, depositions and court appearances) on personal injury/workers’ compensation cases (injuries, fatalities and toxic exposures) and environmental investigations.
